Using Chairs & Cares Office

Using the Chairs & Cares office

Using the Chairs & Cares office. The desk is designed so users in power wheelchairs can roll into the desk thereby having working surfaces on the left and right as well as in front.

The keyboard is compact by Datalux. It's like a laptop PC keyboard. This feature works well for people in power wheelchairs because the number and function keys are above the regular keys allowing users to center the keyboard in front of them. A standard keyboard has those keys in a section on the right side of the board where the section would conflict with the controller for the wheelchair unless the keyboard is slid to the left. Doing so requires a power wheelchair user to have to lean to the left to use the standard keys.

The mouse is a large four button trackball with a lock and drag button by Kensington. This enables users with limited hand and finger function to easily perform actions like; highlight, cut & paste, copy & paste
