Master Bedroom Features

Master Bedroom

This room features a hospital type bed and a ceiling lift system plus various technology devices for people with vision, hearing and mobility impairment.

The electric powered, adjustable, hospital type bed from Invacare has full bed, knee and head raise capability in residential style. A powered air alternating pressure pad from Invacare lays on top of the mattress to relieve pressure for people with limited movement capability.

The Guldmann ceiling lift system from LCSI Lifts covers the whole room and it goes into the master bathroom where branches go to shower, tub and toilet. Up and down is electrically powered. Horizontal movement is manually operated so it requires a care giver's assistance but there are powered options. The lift is quite versatile. There are many sling options including one for bath/shower and one for standing/walking.

A major advantage of the ceiling lift system is it expands the universe of care givers who can work with disabled people because it requires minimal effort to move people around. Ceiling lift systems are more costly than other options but they pay for themselves when users consider the advantage of retaining long term caregivers who would otherwise be unable to provide care.

The height adjustable roll-over-bed table/tray from Invacare is shown next to the bed. It is useful for people in the bed and for care givers.

The technology devices include a voice activated system that will control lights, bed, TV, telephone, and other electronic items in the room.

The telephone jack plate on the wall to the right of the bed is raised 15 inches above the floor for easy access.
