Cooking and Eating Utensils
This page shows a portion of an assortmnent of cooking and eating aids on display at our demonstration model house. This photo features:
- One Touch Can Opener: The One Touch can opener is a "Seen On TV" device that is very useful for people with limited hand function. It works on cans of all sizes and it leaves a smooth edge that's not sharp so the lid can be replaced
- Maple Cutting Board: This Maple Cutting Board has a smooth finish. Stainless steel nails hold foods for persons who have use of only one hand. Wooden corner guards keep food on the board. Rubber feet keep the board securely in place. Board measures 11" (28cm) square and 1" (2.5cm) thick.
- Rocking "T" Knife: This Rocking "T" Knife is easy to use. People with limited grasp or the use of only one hand will appreciate the design of the knife. The broad, semi-circular shaped stainless steel blade allows food to be cut with a rocking action. The blade measures 4-1/2" (11cm) long. The hardwood handle is easy to grip. The safety edge, stainless steel blade may be sharpened with a knife sharpener. Use the knife at mealtime or for food preparation. Dishwasher safe.
- T-Cup: This red & white Plastic Handle Mug is helpful to people with limited hand function. The molded plastic handle on this 12-oz. mug accommodates a variety of grasping patterns. For use with people who are extremely weak. Latex free.
- Long wide diameter straws: The straws shown in the red and white cup are cut to lengtth from clear polyvinyl tubing that was purchased from a local building materials retailer. They are food beverage safe and usable for hot and cold liquids. They are washable and reusable. Diameter is variable by personal preference. Straws can be curved or straightened by heating the straw and applying pressure. You can buy the tubing at most local hardware and building material stores and cut it to your desired length.
