The Broan Rangehood located above the cooktop includes both a light and a vent. These are controlled by switches located on the rangehood and in the roll-under area below the cooktop for easy access to seated people.

The tilted mirror mounted on the back wall above the cooktop provides a good view of the inside of pots and pans on the cooktop which is convenient for people in wheelchairs and people who are seated at the cooktop. Glass lids on the pots and pans allow cooks to see inside. The large tilted mirror was inexpensive. It was purchased at Menards, a local building materials store. Menards donated all the loop style cabinet handles in the kitchen.

The Corian kitchen countertop with color contrast along the edge was provided by Bisley Fabrication. The contrasting black edge along the countertop helps people with vision impairment see the edge of the countertop. A large print cook book is displayed on a book stand located next to the cooktop. This affords easy use for people sitting as well as standing.
